Art at The Lake of the Ozarks? Yes there are lots of small town artists in this area. The little town I live in here called Sunrise Beach and the surrounding small towns, are full of fun art. There are all types, crafts, beads, glass work, metal sculpture, ceramics, wood sculpture, acrylic and oil painting just to name a few, but I believe that I am the only artist in the area doing digital art work. I looked around all the towns here, Osage Beach, Lake Ozark, Camdenton, Laurie and Sunrise Beach but no digital art to be found. Maybe I’ll have a niche in the digital art market. The down side of being the only one is that my choice of printing options if I want to do business in person, locally, is very limited. There are a few of the standards like Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreen’s but I doubt any of them will have experience with printing digital and graphic art. I have been looking online for a good printing situation for my work and have yet to discover the right choice for me. I am extremely uninformed at this point and do expect to be further along in my research by next week. I am anxious to see my art in the form of wall art.
My town is as beautiful as it is small and there are about 400 citizens of Sunrise Beach. Nature lives here, or at least has a summer lake house. I’m taking advantage of the surrounding and my camera Bob and I take as many photographs as possible. There are lots of beautiful photogenic women at the lake with those mid-american features, they happily lay across the front of boats, on the sand in bikinis and atop jetskies with their hair flying. I will be creating a new gallery soon for my photography, especially those photos of lake ladies. Just need to weed through all the photos and see what deserves to be on the website.
The image featured here is called Number 10 from the Map Art Series. It was one of the first digital art pieces I made and I remember it like it was yesterday. The base image or starting point is a photograph I took of Juliette Lewis at a her concert in 2009 with the Licks. She is a gorgeous rocker and shooting her was a pleasure.
